  • Halo 2 ‘Obituary’ by the2cheat.

This was just too awesome not to put on the front page. Thank you the2cheat, lol.

Halo 2, who’s numerous gaming exploits were enjoyed by millions of gamers around the world, died recently.

Halo 2 died late August 29th, at Bungie Studios in Kirkland, WA due to complications involving the birth if his son Halo III. He was almost three years old.

The award winning gaming experience, who gamers around the world enjoyed spending time with, was always a friendly guy. “I must’ve spent weeks worth of time with that guy. He was always fun to be around, and he always had some of the coolest games to play.” long time friend Foo Mo Jive was quoted as saying.

Halo 2 was born on Nov. 9th 2004, at the same Bungie Studios location he died at. “I think Halo 2 would’ve wanted it that way.” Frankie was quoted in the upcoming biography ‘Halo 2: Hero and Legend.

Halo 2 lived a full life. His video gaming career began with a 4 year stay at FPS high, graduating Valedictorian. “That was one of the best days of my life” Halo 2 was once remembered as having said. But he didn’t stop there. While his college career began with a shakey start ( “My Alpha and Beta days were a nightmare.” He once said.) But with a lot of effort, he managed to graduate in the top of his class, earning several ‘ Best of ’04 awards’, as well as several nods as ‘Best XBox Game’.

Once Halo 2 graduated from college, it was time to head out into the world. Halo 2 ended up spending most of his lifespan partying. “Oh yeah, Halo 2 was a party animal. He was always at the biggest LAN Parties. Europe, America, even Australia! He was always on the go.” Frankie said.

Even though he led his life to the fullest, Halo 2 always had one dark secret: He wasn’t finished. While he managed to keep it hidden from the world for the longest time, th truth eventually came out. ” So it’s like “I’ve come to finish the fight” and then what? Nothing! I can’t believe that my parents left me hanging off that cliff.” Halo 2 once famously said to his psychologist.

Halo 2 is survived by his wife Bungie studios, and his son Halo III. Halo 2 will be buried at ‘High Ground Cemetery’ . The viewing will be on Sept. 12, and the burial will occur the following day. Money for flowers can be sent to the ‘Kick-ass flowers for a kick-ass game fund’. Frankie will be delivering the eulogy.

“When I look back on my life, what is there to say? I’ve had my ups (Hell on Beaver Creek, anyone?) and I’ve had my downs (damn cliff hangers), but it’s been one hell of a ride. To all my friends and family, thank you (except you Billy, you little rocket-whore), you’ve made it all worth while. May I bring you fun and joy in the years to come, and may you all have pleasnt days. Please, have fun with my son (Halo III), but don’t abuse him to bad. Good luck, and god’s speed in all your future endavors.” – Halo 2 on his deathbed.

  • Halo 3 Leaked?

As discussed pretty heavily in our forum, a pair of auctions appeared yesterday on eBay in which PAL copies of Halo 3 were being sold. It’s unclear whether these are real or not – but it looks like they might be. The first auction is already offline; the second, as of the time of this writing, is still up.) If this is confirmed to be true, we’ll be turning off our forum until after release, to avoid spoiler material being leaked through us. I’m gone today – but our forum moderators have been alerted, and if anything looks fishy, they’ll be killing the forum. Just a heads-up.(Louis Wu 09:56:45 UTC)

  • Halo 3 Plates

Heh – if you live in Victoria, Australia, check out this auction – put Halo 3 plates on your car! Current bid is AU$3000, with a day left. Thanks, Boxer.(Louis Wu 09:52:46 UTC)

  • Zola: Trinity

Z let us know about Zola: Trinity, a new montage that’s getting great reviews at Halo3Forum. 225 mb, almost 12 minutes long, WMP9 format. Go watch!(Louis Wu 09:51:05 UTC)

  • More on the Wax Chief

Avateur found a page on Xbox.com with pics of the Madame Tussaud’s Wax Master Chief, and a bunch of info. Nice!(Louis Wu 09:47:54 UTC)

  • Mjolnir Armor on eBay

Adam Grumbo let us know that (a little) against his will, he’s selling his personal Master Chief suit on eBay… check out the pics! (You get an assault rifle with the package, even.) Current bid is just under $1k, bidding’s open for almost 10 days.(Louis Wu 09:27:53 UTC)

  • Halo ads to Hit the web this week

Yahoo Games is reporting that they’ve got two exclusive videos to release this week – the ‘Museum’ video mentioned in Brandweek’s release yesterday, and the ‘Believe’ TV ad which went live this week. Keep an eye on the site for these! Looks like Samusaaron3 was first with the news.(Louis Wu 09:15:36 UTC)

  • Halo Film Script By Garland Resurfaces

1Up is running a story to the effect that the alleged Halo film script by Alex Garland, famously referred to at Latino Review, and that I also wrote a few pieces on back in 2005, has been “recovered“.

As if it had been lost.

1Up’s just running a few pages of it at a time, of course.

Want the whole thing? Download it here. As usual, registration and login are required.

WARNING! If you haven’t played Halo, this might contain… well, you know.. spoilers.

  • Yahoo To Debut Exclusive Halo 3 Videos

Kotaku has the story that Yahoo will be hosting two new exclusive Halo 3 videos, Museum and Believe, this week.

Both will debut at 9 PM Pacific Time; Museum on Wednesday, and Believe on Friday. Looks like live action and commercial footage, rather than in-engine cutscene or gameplay.

  • Retail Halo 3 For Sale On Ebay?

MasterChief2829 pointed out a link to an eBay auction that claims to have the full retail Halo 3 package, including an unboxed shot.

It appears to be a PAL version of the game from Australia.

  • An old script surfaces

1Up.com has a story in which a regular on their site stumbled across a torrent containing a copy of Alex Garland’s original Halo movie script from 2005. For what it’s worth… the pages exerpted in the story match the copy I have, as well. (I didn’t get it from 1Up, I came by it back in 2005, when Latino Review reviewed it.) Remember – this project is in limbo right now, and even if it wasn’t, this script was completely reworked by DB Weiss – so whatever’s in there now is not only outdated, it’s irrelevant. Still, it’s interesting, from a historical perspective. Thanks to Yuri Scala for the heads-up.(Louis Wu 00:15:01 UTC)

  • Halo 3 is gold

Halo 3 went gold on August 30 2007, so we are definitely good for a September 26th launch in the UK.

  • New Halo 3 Screenshots

The Final Fight was poking around the Indian Halo 3 site (it may or may not be the official Microsoft site, but it seems to be), and they found four spankin’ new Halo 3 screenshots. Purty! (You gotta check out the Characters page, as well – I’ve seen insane-looking Cortanas before, but never quite like this.) Thanks, MasterChief2829.(Louis Wu 20:42:35 UTC)
