Saved Films – An Endless Supply of Fun
There are more and more fun pics and film clips from Live games showing up around the net – here are a few of the most ridonkulous from our forum:- LX925 pointed out a film of a rocket that got deflected by a grenade explosion, and ended up killing a couple of people who had no idea there was even a battle going on.
- _Wheels03 and Ekkoz spent a while building a pic of a Master Chief helmet.
- Rox went through the trash on High Ground, and found some fun stuff.
- Raulboy was first to point out a film of some guys who figured out how to get a new vehicle in Halo 3. Blackstar even created a new medal for it. (A tutorial can be found here – thanks, Z.)
- Dustbunny27 got a double-kill off a single sniper shot that ricocheted in a way you simply couldn’t have predicted.
There are plenty more – just scan through our forum for links! (Louis Wu 16:33:16 UTC)

I meant to do that.
Elnea realized she’d introduced a major continuity error in Halo Action Figure Theater – or did she? Problem solved, in episode 98.1. (Why not 98.6, that’s what I want to know?)(Louis Wu 15:22:18 UTC)

When you can’t sell the whole thing…
Looks like this was bought with Buy it Now between when Arancio Atlas pointed it out on our forum and now… but someone hacked up a life-sized Halo statue and sold just the head, as a bust. Not a bad finishing job!(Louis Wu 15:20:01 UTC)

Them’s The Breaks

We’re not very good at this promotion thing.
We totally spaced on letting you know about this ahead of time… but Mig and I were on Spike TV’s Game Head last night. It SHOULD be on GameTrailers later today, and you can watch it again on Spike TV next Friday night (well, Saturday morning) at 1 am if you’d like. (It’s the Simpsons Game episode.) It was a cool little (about a minute long) snippet plugging HBO and the Halo community – go find it!(Louis Wu 13:49:23 UTC)

More on no-weapons glitches – and credit
Trindacut let us know that the Missile Pod glitch that lets you go weaponless was discovered (and documented) by Unreal Studioz about three weeks ago. and Bryan Burns suggests that there’s a way to go weaponless without Forge; it involves dropping a flag and deploying equipment, but I couldn’t make it work. In general: we’re happy to give credit where credit is due, but I’m sure there are LOTS of people who’ve discovered specific glitches that haven’t come to our attention; (after this) we’re not going to keep rehashing old ones as people say “well, I found that the day Halo was released!” or “I found that on the copy I bought from eBay a week before release!” or whatever. Enjoy the information, enjoy the credit if you manage to get it to us before anyone else does… but please, do this for the Halo community, rather than for a credit mention. Thanks!(Louis Wu 13:37:51 UTC)

Chocolate frosting + pound cake = win.
I spent yesterday evening at the birthday party of Miguel “Ding” Chavez’s oldest – and yes, it was a Halo party. We discovered that old and wily often beats young and fast… remember that.(Louis Wu 13:35:40 UTC)

Covenant Elite Costume on eBay
Hawty “if it’s on eBay, I’ll tell you about it” McBloggy found a Covenant Elite costume for sale on eBay – it’s made of hard plastics and latex, and fits folks between about 5’11” and 6’2″, and can be shipped by Halloween. Starting bid is $900, and you’ve got a day and a half to get your bid in. I don’t think I’ve seen one of these for sale before! (Louis Wu 13:27:49 UTC)

There’s stuff about the banhammer, the rank system, meleeing, a resolution issue that affects a small group of people, info about upcoming downloadable content, direct downloads of Halo: Landfall, and info about the Recon armor. You want goodies? You can’t HANDLE goodies! (Okay, maybe you can.) As always, if you need it, it’s up in the Weekly Update Archive, too.(Louis Wu 00:54:52 UTC)

A Million Bucks for Halo 3
Whoa. The Cyberathlete Professional League is hosting a Halo 3 tournament during the Extreme Winter Championships – with a purse of $1,000,000. First place gets a quarter of that, as an instant cash payout… the rest is split between at least 64 places. More details are at the announcement page on the CPL’s website, with registration opening on Monday at Halo3Competition.com. That’s some serious cash!(Louis Wu 18:26:13 UTC)

Going Weaponless in Multiplayer
blackouTT let us know that ClazM49 found a pretty cool way to get rid of your weapon for filmmaking; it’s much easier than the built-in button combo. You can only do this in Forge – but that means all multiplayer maps are accessible. You need two people: first, spawn a missile pod. Then, time it so that one person picks up the pod at the same moment that the other person deletes it; the person picking up the pod will be left open-handed. Do not press ‘Y’, or you’ll lose the effect… and you can only do this as a Spartan, not an Elite. Coolness!(Louis Wu 18:19:04 UTC)

Deus Ex Machina
DigitalPh33r, the guy behind the ‘Master Chief Sucks at Halo’ series, started a new Halo 3 series called ‘Deus Ex Machina’, about a superhero involved in helping out the little guy. Major Silva found the first two episodes on YouTube (one | two), or you can download them from machinima.com. Pretty nice work!(Louis Wu 18:11:06 UTC)
