Secrets of Multiplayer Maps
The same issue of Edge that contained an interview with Marty O’Donnell also contained a fascinating article about multiplayer map design, in which Bungie’s Tyson Green and Chris Carney play significant roles. What makes a multiplayer map great? Read this article to find out. Thanks to broony, for noticing it weeks after it went live (but before anyone else let us know). (Louis Wu 19:07:00 UTC)

MTV’s Year-end Top 10
MTV’s Stephen Totilo has listed his Top 10 Games of the Year – Halo 3 comes in at number 3. (I was skeptical of his number-one game… until I tried it out. He’s right – it’s horribly addicting. News is actually late this morning because of it.) (Louis Wu 17:59:49 UTC)

Illusion Self-Portrait in Forge
This is very, very cool. Wax Eyes, over at Bungie.net, used Forge to create a different kind of artwork. Takes a bit to see it – but once it falls into place, it’s clear. (There are hints for seeing it in Raulboy’s thread on our forum.) Read the stuff that Wax Eyes posted at Flickr, as well; it’s great. (Louis Wu 17:51:13 UTC)

I’d meant to post this yesterday, but forgot – Charley117 was the first to point out that each of the new Xbox Originals released yesterday on Xbox Live also had a Picture Pack and Theme released with them; these are free for Gold members now, and will be free for Silver members next week. Some nice stuff! The Halo picture pack includes Keyes, Cortana, the Chief, a Grunt, and an Elite.(Louis Wu 17:39:11 UTC)

RT: The whole world is merging…
With Sunday’s news of the Activision / Blizzard merger, this strange year in gaming continues to get stranger. I’m not sure what’s going on, but it’s like the gaming industry is competing to out-weird this year’s college football season. Maybe there’s something…

Bungie Community Newsletter Seeking Fan Art
Myself and some guys over at Bungie.net have been kicking around this idea of starting up a monthly community newsletter. Basically it will contain lots of content from the community itself (like fan art, fanfiction…) Bungie and gaming news etc: Not everything is finalized yet but we are hard at work in an attempt to create a good newsletter that, hopefully, people will enjoy.
But we need content for the newsletter and thats where the community (you guys!) come in. So if you want to share your artwork with the rest of us please send it to maximumfear@gmail.com We’ll take any form of art as long as it is Bungie related. The best submissions every month will be published in the newsletter along with the other content such as articles and interviews, and all submissions will be displayed online.
If you have any questions feel free to email me, and if you are sending artwork then please use the subject title: Fan-Art Submission. Thanks a lot guys!

Official Podtacular Halo 3 Clans
As many of you are aware, with our Halo 2 clan activity at an all-time low, we’ve been working on something new for Halo 3 clans. Since the Fall dashboard update did not introduce any clan support as was rumored a while back, we’ve had to get a little inventive to get things rolling again.
Using the new “Friends of Friends” feature, everyone will now have a broader network that can connect everyone via other games and interests. Think of it as an extended friends list, where you can find other gamers that might also be a part of the same or similar communities. While this works for a variety of uses to individual gamers, we’re going to use this take this one step further and begin building our Halo 3 clans around it.
The Code
First off, let’s be clear on what it takes to be a member of the Podtacular clansâ€â€the Podtacular Code of Honor. These guidelines are things that most of us have stood by and may have gone unsaid, but as we expect new members to come into our community, it’s best to set these standards right now.The Clans
Next, we’d like to introduce to you all the Official Podtacular Clans as follows:Podtacular Rec – Podtacular Recreational Group
Podtacular Pros – Podtacular Pro and Hardcore Group
Podtacular AStr – Podtacular All Stars
How it works
The clans will be managed as separate Xbox Live gamertags, which will be used as a connector to bring clanmates together across the service. To apply for clan membership, you’ll need to fill out a simple form telling us about yourself. Then, after overlord review and approval, you’ll receive a friend request. Do NOT send friend requests to these gamertags, because they will be automatically rejected. For more information on each clan, their leadership structure, the Code of Honor and how to join, please click visit podtacular.com/clans

Kill / Death Ratio & What you need to rank up
Incase anyone wanted to see how we stack up against each other when it comes to kill / death ratio. Also, when we can expect our next rank up (for the “rank whores” like myself)
