ASE Ep. 146 Marathon Tempus Irae 00: Ain’t My Bitch
We’re starting a new Marathon adventure– this time fighting the Pfhor in Italy of the past in third party scenario Tempus Irae!
Tempus Irae can be played, like the other Marathon games, using the open source Aleph One engine which you can get here for Windows, Mac and Linux:
Tempus Irae and other third party scenarios for the Aleph One engine can be downloaded here:
http://source.bungie.org/scenarios.php#more
We use irons’ Co-Op script, which gives weapons and ammo to both players if either picks any up, and prevents weapon loss on death (so items can’t be destroyed in lava or slime). The script also allows one player to teleport to a destination set by themselves or their partner, in case co-op players run into a problem a solo player would have to restart for.

Tempus Irae has its own spoiler guide:

The Blind Leading the Blind
Amazing – Twitch Plays Halo is still going, with its crowdsourced run of Halo… and they’ve made it to the trench run on the Maw! (It’s currently offline, but that’s temporary.) Keep an eye on this stream, just to see if they’ll finish! (Thanks to Hoovaloov for the reminder!)(Louis Wu 22:50:20 UTC)

Remaking the Art of Halo 2 for Xbox One – GDC 2015
Certain Affinity’s Michael Pavlolich gave a GDC talk that detailed the pipeline and tools that allow artists to quickly take concepts and ideas to a functioning in-game model. A good portion of his presentation is focused on recreating Halo 2’s art for the Anniversary edition of the game. It’s a really interesting talk, even for non-artist types. Thanks, SEspider.(mastrbiggy 18:58:11 UTC)

Frank O’Connor Interview at GamesRadar
I missed this last week when it was released, but Frank O’Connor spoke to GamesRadar about Halo 5, and what it means for the franchise. It’s a fascinating read to see how the character of Locke has been developed specifically to serve purposes that CANNOT be served with Master Chief… go read! (This is part 1 of a 2-part interview.)(Louis Wu 22:46:16 UTC)
