Microsoft issues DMCA takedowns against Halo Online modders
According to Ars Technica, Microsoft is serving DMCA takedown notices to those who have accessed Halo Online content and are outside Russian territory. So far the takedown specifcally targets GitHub’s repositories, but this has also affected any YouTube videos that feature Halo Online content. Thanks, arithmomaniac. (mastrbiggy 20:54:58 UTC)

ASE Ep. 149 Marathon Tempus Irae 05-06: Downward Spiral / Repository Three
We’re starting a new Marathon adventure– this time fighting the Pfhor in Italy of the past in third party scenario Tempus Irae!
In this episode there’s a castle filled with classical art, walls that explode, and aliens. It’s always aliens.
Tempus Irae can be played, like the other Marathon games, using the open source Aleph One engine which you can get here for Windows, Mac and Linux:
Tempus Irae and other third party scenarios for the Aleph One engine can be downloaded here:

We use irons’ Co-Op script, which gives weapons and ammo to both players if either picks any up, and prevents weapon loss on death (so items can’t be destroyed in lava or slime). The script also allows one player to teleport to a destination set by themselves or their partner, in case co-op players run into a problem a solo player would have to restart for.

Tempus Irae has its own spoiler guide:

Steal My Kill
This is so six weeks ago… but it made me laugh, so I’m posting it. The Warp Zone (yeah, they like One Direction) has a parody of OD’s “Steal My Girl” that’s pretty good. Plus, there’s a Grunt Plushy in there! Go watch. (SEspider posted it on our forum a couple of weeks ago – but it was STILL a month old then. We gotta start keeping up!)(Louis Wu 23:52:58 UTC)

Podtacular 468: Hunting the Truth

The latest Halo promo pulls a page from the old playbook taking the Hunt the Truth ARG and incorporating an audio drama podcast. While it’s not quite like the ilovebees campaign back for Halo 2, it has some similarities posing more questions than it answers. We’re excited to see where this journey goes as we dive into the bullet teaser trailer and episode zero of #HUNTtheTRUTH.

Podtacular 467: Halo Online Announced

When you talk Halo on the PC, you have to go back about 10 years to find Halo 2 Vista still kicking around. Recent news changes the whole game once again as Halo Online was announced for PC coming to a closed beta in Russia. There’s no word on whether this will be coming to other regions of the world, but it’s exciting to hear that the PC community, although currently limited, is able to enjoy this franchise once again. Halo Online is free to play game based off a heavily modified Halo 3 engine with micro-transactions built in. From the announcement trailer, we got to see some familiar maps and lots of customization for your Spartan armor and weapons. Now if we can just get MCC to PC, that would be even better.
