Halo Dart Guns
Ray Reece shot us a link from Engadget – if you’re at SDCC this year, you’ll be able to pick up a set of Halo dart guns (one UNSC, one Covie). You MIGHT be able to buy it at Toys R Us after the show – but you won’t get the super-cool carrying case. I want one! (Louis Wu 20:23:16 UTC)

Podtacular 489: Ramblings of the Third Kind

Following up on a pretty quiet news week, the gang decides to talk about some theories behind the Hunt the Truth podcast and how things may play into Halo 5: Guardians later this year. We touch on the subject of FERO’s involvement with the Insurrection, Sapien Sunrise’s end game and possible influence on humanity, and the possibility of seeing some of the characters from the podcast either in the upcoming TV show or game. We also dive a bit into the campaign play style from past games and talk about what we would like to see with it in Halo 5 and future games. Normal shenanigans and ramblings ensue and we look forward to returning to normal on our next episode.

Halo: Mythic Preview 13
munky-058 pointed out a new fanmade Halo tabletop game in the works – definitely worth a look. Halo: Mythic was created by Vorked, and there’s been a lot of work put into this! (Louis Wu 22:49:48 UTC)

You Better Watch Out
Episode 9 of Red vs Blue Season 13 is now out for the general public – and that Santa guy we met last time? Yeah… he seems like he could use some lessons in basic human thought processes. There are things you just don’t offer! This one definitely ramps up the tension – go watch! (And we didn’t mention it last week when it was released, but there was a new PSA – The Sound of Stupid. I’d never heard of ASMR before… but it’s okay, this PSA isn’t really about that.) (Louis Wu 22:43:02 UTC)

Halo coming back to PC?

Update Xbox One coming next week?
Apparently, Amazon might have leaked a ‘refreshed’ Xbox One that should be hitting the streets next week, to coincide with Microsoft’s Press Conference at E3 – it’s Halo-related because one of the features is a digital copy of the Master Chief Collection. Sounds like a pretty good deal, if it’s true!(Louis Wu 22:39:17 UTC)

The Free Xboxes Continue to Roll
More Xbox One/Halo giveaways – there’s one at TweakTown Deals, and another at BGR. (I’m a little suspicious that BGR and last week’s BoingBoing giveaway are the same thing – the stores are very, very similar. Didn’t see anything that said this, though, so go ahead and enter both!)(Louis Wu 22:36:09 UTC)

Podtacular 488: Silence of Biko

Ben finds himself waiting in the dark of his hideout where he’s waiting for his contact, but trying to keep up with what’s happening after his stunt. After one stormy night, Ray shows up a day early delivering good news that the Chief was innocent from the case on Biko. Turns out a group by the name Sapien Sunrise, a terrorist organization against the alliance with aliens, attempted to infiltrate the ranks of Sekibo to assassinate him, which Chief miraculously prevented. While Biko requested assistance against these terrorists, the UEG placed a gag order on the planet, even after the footage leaks. While there was evidence to support it, Ray’s contact was unable to recover the evidence needed to make the compelling case. Following up with Petra, per request of Ray wanting to check up on his family, Ben receives a tip from her for a 72 hour window and coordinates on Bliss, that was an opportunity she said he couldn’t pass up. After receiving the news, he headed back to his place to retrieve some hidden stuff in his apartment. When he arrived, the building was condemned, every room wrapped in plastic with doors open, except for his, which was completely gutted. We are pleased once again to have Toa Freak or Halo Canon on YouTube back on the show to discuss this week’s episode.

ASE Ep. 158 Marathon Tempus Irae 20-21: Rock the Boat / Theater of Pain
Where we went wrong, was getting on a boat… and then sinking the boat and going somewhere full of juggernaughts.
We’re starting a new Marathon adventure– this time fighting the Pfhor in Italy of the past in third party scenario Tempus Irae!
Tempus Irae can be played, like the other Marathon games, using the open source Aleph One engine which you can get here for Windows, Mac and Linux:
Tempus Irae and other third party scenarios for the Aleph One engine can be downloaded here:
http://source.bungie.org/scenarios.php#more
We use irons’ Co-Op script, which gives weapons and ammo to both players if either picks any up, and prevents weapon loss on death (so items can’t be destroyed in lava or slime). The script also allows one player to teleport to a destination set by themselves or their partner, in case co-op players run into a problem a solo player would have to restart for.

Tempus Irae has its own spoiler guide:

Canon Fodder – HEV-en Sent
This week’s Canon Fodder contains an interview with Joe Staten, discussing the recent release of ODST for the Master Chief Collection. It’s a pretty interesting read! There’s also a reminder of Sadie’s Story, which was fantastic the first time around and should be a blast to revisit, as well as a roundup of ODST-related fiction, and a link to the MomoCon panel with Steve Downes and Keith David. All in all, a packed issue! Go check it out.(Louis Wu 22:07:19 UTC)
