Truthiness, Whiteboards, and Maintenance
Yesterday’s edition of the Bungie Weekly Update was a little light on information – some travel info, some head-to-head info, some BTB info, ways NOT to submit news, a teaser about next month, and… another Superintendent message? Go read – either at Bungie.net, or in our Weekly Update Archive.(Louis Wu 13:16:25 UTC)

Lance and I are treating everyone to the first Around the Ring show that will feature user submissions. For those in the Halo: CE community, we are doing a very popular map: CMT Snow Grove, perhaps the most played CTF map. We’re looking for some good CTF tips, so if you have played the map, please help out your fellow players. You can send your tips to .

RT: Dev Day: New Mod Point System
—
by
Hey, Ben here. The site is now back with a brand new update for Friday. The modding system has changed. You no longer have a “bank” of mod points, you can mod anything you like, but only once. From now on, modding is a unique process for comments….

A Clover on my Shoulder
Folks have been making montages of gameplay footage for almost as long as Halo’s been out, and I think I’ve been pretty consistent in my tastes during that time. I’ve always felt that some effects can add to the interest level of the montage – but there’s a point at which visual effects take away from a montage’s enjoyability. We got word from Lando Griff1n today that his montage was posted, over at Bungie.net (well, hosted by Halo3Montage, but the discussion is at B.net), and I downloaded the HD version to check it out. I think I can say with confidence that I’ve never seen a montage with more video effects than this one. It’s fascinating just from an academic standpooint… but I warn you, you might have some trouble watching it if you’ve been drinking. There are smaller versions if 330 mb is too much for you.(Louis Wu 19:58:31 UTC)

Halo: The Day the World Died
shisno34 pointed out ‘The Day our World Died‘, a fan film created by some students in Sweden as an entry into the ‘Halo 3 Recut‘ contest Microsoft Europe ran this spring. Pretty nice!(Louis Wu 17:31:11 UTC)

Wear Your Helmet
Today’s edition of Another Halo Comic Strip is another zinger from Keith Jones – it might be considered a little more mature in content than other strips, but its humor can’t be denied.(Louis Wu 14:30:55 UTC)

Philly Gamers – looking for a web overhaul
Paul Miles, from PhillyGamers.net, let us know that they’ve got six LAN tournaments scheduled between the July 4th weekend and the end of September – all are in and around Philadelphia, and all will have Halo 3 2v2 events (among other games). They’re looking for someone who wants to help rebuild their website – if you’re interested, swing by and let ’em know! (Preferred contact appears to be their Myspace profile.)(Louis Wu 14:01:55 UTC)

Top Ten US Console Games, from NPD (via GS)
Interesting. Gamespot has posted some info from NPD, the industry tracking group that keeps up on sales numbers… they’ve listed the Top Ten Best-Selling Non-PC Games in the US (yes, that’s a bunch of qualifiers), and a Halo game is there. But maybe not the one you expected… it’s Halo 2. (Halo 3 has sold almost 8 million copies worldwide, so far – but only about 5.75 million of those have been in the US.)(Louis Wu 13:36:25 UTC)

Unlucky Elite 2
Last September, Jamie98s let us know about the Unlucky Elite – today, he’s released a sequel. Unlucky Elite 2 follows our hapless friend as he continues his fight against the human. Great sound, nice effects, well-done all around. You can watch the streaming version at Jamie98s’ site, but since nobody should have to be subjected to MegaUpload, we’re providing mirrors for the download versions – both WMP9 and QuickTime. (They’re 62 mb each.)(Louis Wu 13:20:33 UTC)

From Medusa’s Head
It’s time for a new Reclaimer comic, or so TTL Demag0gue tells us – Episode 52 provides the names of two more AIs (and the origin of one of those). Funky!(Louis Wu 13:02:33 UTC)
