Master Chief Theater 3000 – Episode 5
mrsmiley let us know that Episode 5 of Pyrosmile’s Master Chief Theater 3000 (the continuation of Pyroman’s MST3K parody) is now on YouTube. This one shows off the end of Floodgate.(Louis Wu 10:20:24 UTC)

Determining Object Sizes in Halo 3
Omega spent some time in Pan-Cam mode, measuring stuff. Interesting results! (Looks like Bungie did a little fudging…(Louis Wu 10:18:39 UTC)

That Arbiter’s a Sneaky One…
Back in April, AfRo SaUcE recorded a funny clip showing the Arbiter betraying him on Floodgate. He’s back, showing off a new attempt. Arby didn’t succeed this time… but it was close!(Louis Wu 10:17:45 UTC)

Party Hats and Evil Canadians
Yesterday was Friday, which means that Hawty McBloggy posted a new round of Friday Caption Fun. There are great submissions for last week’s pic (along with some gratuitous pain for me) – and a new image which should generate more than a few drunk jokes. Go add your own! (Louis Wu 10:17:10 UTC)

Halo project rumors flying
Probably the biggest news making the rounds yesterday was a rumor – it started over at Sarcastic Gamer on Thursday (with a quick followup a little later) – they claim that an anonymous source asserts that Halo 4 is in full development by Bungie. The followup claims that this project will be announced at E3. These claims were picked up by many, many sites out there (Narcogen did a nice job of summarizing some of the bigger ones in this Rampancy.net newspost) – there’s a thread on our forum, started by Red_Breast, for folks who want to discuss this. It looks pretty clear that SOMETHING new and Halo-related will be announced at E3 – but whether it will be ‘Halo 4’ from Bungie, or details of Peter Jackson’s Halo project, or something entirely different – we’ll just have to wait and see. (IGN predicts it’ll be the Peter Jackson project – in an article that also places Halo Wars at #7 on their Most Anticipated Games of E3 2008. Thanks, Planet Halo.) Thanks to the many, many people who sent in news about this stuff. For now – we’re filing this firmly in the ‘Rumor’ cabinet.(Louis Wu 09:58:39 UTC)

Now on Bungie.net – Matchmaking Playlist Breakdown
Something that’s been needed for a LONG time on Bungie.net has been a summary of the details of the playlists – what games/maps are in which lists, and how often, that sort of thing. Thursday night, Shishka (with some help) finally put this up – go visit to read about the lists! A comment thread was started in our forum, if you want to contribute.(Louis Wu 09:46:04 UTC)

Pro vs GI Joe – Halo 3 tourney for racers and soldiers
Here’s hoping everyone’s 4th of July was memorable! I had a lot of Halo stuff facing me when I returned… let’s see if I can get through a little of it before my day REALLY starts. First up – Watkins Glen International raceway held a special event on Thursday – they teamed IndyCar Series drivers up with US soldiers in Kuwait for a tournament they called ‘Pro vs GI Joe’. You can read writeups on the News 10 Now website and the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. Fun!(Louis Wu 09:44:22 UTC)

Is That A New Halo Game In Your Pocket?
—
by
…or is Sarcastic Gamer just happy to see you? More of you than they can handle, apparently, since the site is no longer accessible, leading me to depend on a report from Kotaku that the site, along with CVG, is citing the usual “sources” that a new Halo game will be announced at E3. Halo Chronicles? Halo 4? Lego Halo? Nothing at all? Time will tell.
UPDATE: This one continues to make the rounds: ActionTrip, Fragland, Xbox360FanBoy, and NeoGAF. The last seems to focus more on the “Superintendent” image and a possible non-Halo title.
UPDATE: I couldn’t open SarcasticGamer when I posted this item, but it is visible now, and the editor assures us below that the site has been running the entire time. Specifically, the site claims Halo 4 will be announced at E3, and they’ve added a link to the story at CVG as corroboration of their original claim.
Apparently some readers disbelieve the rumor because it’s “too early” for the announcement of another Halo game. SG replies that there’s a difference between announcing game development and announcing a release date– but in this case it really may be too early, as Halo 3 wasn’t announced until 18 months after the release of Halo 2, and the release of Halo 3 was only nine months ago. Unless this game is really a content release for the Halo 3 engine, or Bungie has magically figured out a way to halve its development time for Halo games (three years per game, give or take) it means that the wait for Halo 4 will seem even longer.

Happy 4th of July!
We’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July! If you’re outside of the US, we apologize for the lack of news today – feel free to blow something up in response. (That’s certainly going to be happening INSIDE the US…) Might I suggest some Halo 3 Campaign? We’re just over a hundred million kills shy of the 7 billion required to meet the Bungie Day challenge… you can help! We’ll be back updating normally tomorrow. (If you missed it yesterday, the Cold Storage ViDoc should whet your appetite for the freebie Bungie will be sending your way on Monday.)(Louis Wu 08:42:21 UTC)

Leonidas for Jazz Band
—
by
I arranged Leonidas for my jazz band for the end of the school year. Unfortunately my band teacher didn’t have faith in us and decided to not even try the piece even though we just stood around and did nothing that day. Anyway I wanted this piece to be used by someone so I am putting it up for anyone to use. I hope that someone can play this with a band or just enjoy the music. Thanks!

Bungie will release Cold Storage (remake of Chill Out) on Bungie Day (7/7) for free! …and the world will be a better place. [continued]

Chill Out This Bungie Day
—
by
The word on the street (or at least in the Bungie.net update this week) is that Cold Storage, the remake of the classic Halo 1 multiplayer map Chill Out, will be released this July 7, Bungie Day, for free.
-
And on the Seven7th Day…
Bungie has posted “a quick look” at Cold Storage – the new Vidoc is six minutes long, ranges from 65 mb to 360 mb, depending on download flavor (or can be streamed in the Bungie Media Player), and shows off the hawtness that is the soon-to-be-free Chill Out remake. The Bungie devs involved in the making of this map guide you through the ins and outs of the new map – just in time to drool for a couple of days, before you can get your mitts on it on Monday! Go watch.(Louis Wu 22:00:09 UTC)
