The Worst First Level Ever?
Vox has an article about how terrible Halo 3’s first level is – some of the complaints made me think about how information is presented to gamers by the games they play, and the line developers walk between making things too frustrating for beginners, and too easy for veterans. I think one of the problems here was that the recommendation that Halo 3’s campaign be played on Heroic was aimed specifically at returning players – folks that would know to look around for things like weapon caches (which would eliminate one of the major complaints here) and to use cover when facing enemies at long range. Hawty McBloggy has written yet another batch of Halo pick-up lines (I’m not sure how she can call it “Yet Another Top Ten Halo Pick-Up Lines” – it seems to me you can really only have ONE Top Ten… but then, she knows far more about this stuff than I do). Looking For Team Leaders In The PC Regulars Clan
I’m putting another call out for people to lead teams. I got a bunch of support when I put out the first call but I made the rules for making a team a bit loose and the result fell a little short of what I was aiming for. So here are a few points. (Look inside post for more)
Criteria For Starting Up A Team
– The teams must be formed for the purpose of competing with other communities and clans. Make sure that your members are dedicated to the task and that you yourself are willing to put in the effort of running a team.
– To form a team you must have several people who are willing to participate. You can’t start up a clan with no community support and involvement. Generate some interest in the community first.
– Teams should only be formed for games that are still popular to some degree. Dead games are not eligable.
– Multiple teams for one game can only be formed if there is a justifiable need. An example would be if there are a lot of people who want to participate.Anyone wishing to form a team must contact myself via PM. We’ll discuss it and see if it’s a viable option. Currently I’m looking for people to run the following games:
– Halo PC/CE
– Team Fortress 2
– CrysisBut don’t let that stop you. If there is a popular game that can garner support then by all means feel free to PM me.
One more point: If you wanna get involved but don’t wish to partake in a full on competitive team then join the Rec clan! Good ol’ clean fun!

Writer: Halo Film Still Dead; Fall Of Reach Film On Track
GameDaily has an interview with writer Stuart Beattie, who is taking Eric Nylund‘s Halo novel The Fall Of Reach and adapting it into a film script.
Beattie was the writer on Pirates of the Carribbean and G.I. Joe, and wrote a Gears of War script last year.
