The Cole Protocol – in the UK before the US
broony announced that he’d just received email from Amazon.co.uk confirming that The Cole Protocol had been dispatched, and Jillybean mentioned it had been in a local Scotland store for several days. The US Amazon, however, has the book on target to be shipped by mid-week next week. Oh, well… (Louis Wu 14:23:30 UTC)

Videogames – an economic bright spot
Dave ‘Evil Otto’ Candland stopped by to point out a local (Seattle) news story involving Bungie – looks like lawmakers are trying to figure out how to keep video game dollars in the state, and Bungie’s a company worth talking to! (Louis Wu 14:22:56 UTC)

Halo 3 and the NXE – Things to Know
Over on the Bungie blog, there’s an interview with Mat Noguchi about how Halo 3 uses the Xbox 360 cache features, and how this affects you with respect to the new ‘copy to disk’ feature of LIVE’s NXE (which is now available to all LIVE subscribers). We’ve discussed this recently – but this interview provides many more details as to how it all works. The important take-home message, though, can be summarized in a sentence: if you play Halo 3 multiplayer, and you use the ‘install to HD’ feature of the NXE, not only will your load times be slower, but you will degrade the experience of everyone you play with. Bungie advises that Halo 3 players do NOT install the game on their hard drive..(Louis Wu 18:16:09 UTC)

What games will you store on your Xbox Hard Drive tonight? And XBL New Experience 8 person parties
—
by
Now with the new XBL New Experience you will be able to store games from disc onto your hard drives for faster loading times and a quieter running Xbox. What games from your library will occupy that space?
Some on my list:
Gears of War 2
Halo 3
Call of Duty 4The feature will still require you to have the game disc in the tray to make sure you own the game of course.
On another note, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the new party system. Allowing for 8 people to chat together (hopefully while in game) virtually eliminating the need for in-game voice chat solutions. I’m looking forward to getting in some games of Gears 2 with the increased communication abilities. There is no reason we should have been limited to 1 to 1 chat as we have before since PC gamers have had the luxury of ventrilo and teamspeak forever now. GG on the new additions.
