386,601 Halo 3 players in the last 24 hours
Bungie.net’s new website now shows stats for both HALO 2 and HALO 3 games. It looks like there are quite a few people playing the HALO 3 beta.
A look at the HALO 3 stats:
386,601 Halo 3 Players (Last 24 Hours)
636,332 Halo 3 Games (Last 24 Hours)
19,763 Players Online in Halo 3Compare that to:
171,485 Halo 2 Players (Last 24 Hours)
319,796 Halo 2 Games (Last 24 Hours)
6,000 Players Online in Halo 2Goku says that over 100,000 HALO 3 players were online at one time last night. At the time of this post in the morning, 20,000 HALO 3 players are online compared to 6,000 HALO 2 players. Over twice as many HALO 3 games have been played in the last 24 hours than HALO 2 games.
It looks like HALO 3 is on track to be a successful game even with some matchmaking problems and a delay.

H2 Vista available in AU – now
Over at h2vista.net, there’s news that Halo 2 Vista has been released in Australia (a bit ahead of the revised schedule) – and that there are indications that the map tools work under Windows XP. Wallpaper – sort of
This is pretty strange… Gamespot has bundled up 25 Halo 2 desktops created by Bungie (and served from Bungie.net) and made them available for download – to Gamespot members. (Again – these are all available at Bungie.net – in many more resolutions than can be found in this pack – and have been for years.) Halo 3 Graphics Tour
Gamespot put up a feature entitled ‘Halo 3 Graphics Tour‘ – it contains 3 pages of screenshots from Halo 2 and Halo 3 (mouse over the pics to see the Halo 3 versions). I think they could have done a better job of picking screens that matched each other, to better compare the differences… but it’s still pretty clear that Halo 3 has gotten one heck of a nice paint job. Congratulations! You’ve been banned for modifying your Xbox. This doesn’t affect your XBL account, but does prevent that console from connecting to Xbox Live. Ever. Major Nelson also notes this on his blog.
