And… more.
sqorck pointed out a bunch of new Reach footage at Joystiq, and 2900d4u pointed out a bunch of new movies at GameTrailers. I’d expect this to continue all day. (You might want to keep an eye on our forum, since I may or may not be able to stay on top of stuff all day long.) Update: IGN has video too – thanks, GrimBrother One.(Louis Wu 14:06:35 UTC)

The Video Onslaught Commences… Now
GiantBomb has posted a bunch of footage (35 minutes!) they grabbed during the press event they attended last week – this is the first real (full-game-by-randoms) gameplay we’ve seen. They start off playing Network Defense, but move into other gametypes, and there’s commentary from a couple of attendees and some people asking him questions. This is FULL of interesting information! Thanks, DEEP NNN. (The embargo on video footage ends today, so it’s likely we’re going to see quite a bit.)(Louis Wu 14:00:23 UTC)

Great time to pick up ODST
CVG has a short newsbit about the prices of Halo 3: ODST in the UK, and how game sellers are using the Reach Beta as a chance to sell a bunch of extra copies. Current prices range from £15-20 (US $23-$31). Do you have YOUR copy?(Louis Wu 13:59:54 UTC)

The Ad Onslaught Commences… Soon
GrimBrother One noticed a new website, Welcome to Noble Team, with a teaser image that makes it clear that content will begin arriving on Wednesday – and onebitrocket found a note on Facebook describing an upcoming Spartan ad that launches tomorrow (on television – not on the web until Wednesday). Birth of a Spartan? Sounds intriguing!(Louis Wu 13:59:01 UTC)

He’s all wet.
Marcus posted a quick note up on the Reach Developer Log – looks like water algorithms still rely on older code, so building water elements requires knowledge that newer engineers might not have. Lucky Marcus!(Louis Wu 13:58:27 UTC)

ASE – Administrivia
Rampancy.net has rearranged the way it presents the various versions of its podcast – the mp3 is now available in streaming format (because more browsers can handle that), while the enhanced AAC can still be grabbed from iTunes. Go listen your way!(Louis Wu 13:57:56 UTC)

AH: Uncharted 2 DLC: The Siege
Geoff and I sat down and played some of the new Uncharted 2 DLC (The Siege). It introduces two new maps (The Highrise and The Museum) and introduces a new gametype called…um…Siege. Think of it as horde mode meets crazy king of the hill. I just cut together a short video showing some highlights from the new maps as Geoff and I play a couple games of Siege. Check it out!

Note To Podcast Listeners
Just a quick note; the podcast pages have been slightly reorganized to clear up some things that were confusing.
We’ve always uploaded an enhanced AAC file in an M4A container first; ASE is authored in GarageBand, and this format, readable by iTunes, supports features like embedded links, chapters and chapter images. If you use iTunes, the best way to get this version of the podcast is through iTMS or you can manually add the feed in iTunes’ advanced menu.
If you’re not using iTunes then you may want to download individual episodes or just use the embedded flash player on the site. For this, you want the MP3 version. Many times in the past these versions were uploaded much later, and the only way to find them was to find the AAC version first and then find a cross-link. No more. The podcast block on the front page, as well as the podcast’s own page, will now prioritize the MP3 versions, which should mean no more problems with the Flash player not working (it can’t handle the AAC files) or wonky downloads (Safari seems to add an extraneous .mp3 extension onto the .m4a files when downloading those versions directly.)
