  • Advanced Warfighter

MaritalBlaze54 submitted ‘Advanced Warfighter’ to the MPRRS, and they loved it – enough that it made into the Top 10 passing scores. It’s an adaptation of the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter release trailer (google it if you’ve never seen it), and uses the GRAW HUD really well – among other niceties. Great cinematography, great effects……

  • Halo Graphic Novel Preview now out

Stephen Loftus pointed out that the Halo Graphic Novel comic, the 16-page preview meant to whet your appetite for the real thing (due out on July 12) was released a couple of days go (May 31), but nobody on the forum’s been discussing it. (Stephen says that it’s got plenty of spoiler material in it,…

  • Marty Talks Halo 3 at PLAY!

Very nice. Spartan Jag pointed out a tidbit in an interview over at Xbox Evolved – Marty O’Donnell discussed Bungie, Chicago, and Halo 3 with one of their staffers before the PLAY! concert a couple of days ago. (The tidbit is cool – apparently, there was a chance for some press folks to play a…

  • Artwork, Updated

The Miscellaneous Art queue has been sadly neglected for over a month – I didn’t have time to fully clear it out today, but i DID manage to put up 20 new images (well, 22, if you count the variants). There’s some killer stuff in there – go look!

  • Helix Canyon

FireDragon04 points out a new map for Halo Custom Edition entitled Helix Canyon. You can find a discussion thread (with screens) on the Gearbox forums, and another on the Halomods forum. Give it a look – and a download!

  • The Halo Brothers Tag Mario Melee Event

We got word of a tournament in Orlando, Florida, coming up on June 17. It’s sponsored by Gamestop – $20 to get in, lots of prizes. Halo is one of several games. Check out The Trades website for more details.

  • Cortana, Breathing

MsValentine, a regular over at Red vs Blue, has been cosplaying as Cortana at various conventions – and tweaking the costume as she goes – here’s a recent shot of the outfit (there should be more coming soon). If you are a member at RvB, you can check out her images section for older pics,…

  • Deconstructing The Movie Process

Over at Rampancy.net, Narcogen has written up the first installment of a piece he entitled ‘Halo Movie Dos and Don’ts’. It’s nothing that hasn’t been hashed out dozens of times on Halo forums across the net – but it’s nicely organized, well-thought-out, and backed up with solid arguments. Definitely worth a read.

  • Halo: Marine Tales

Over at Newgrounds, there’s a very NSFW Flash animation called ‘Halo: Marine Tales’ – parts are quite funny, parts are totally silly, spelling is atrocious, profanity is WAY overused. Artwork is quite good. Worth a look – if you can do so without getting in trouble. Thanks, Naburu.

  • Marty Rocks. (And so does the rest of the team.)

The winners of our last 7 on the 7th contest have begun to receive their prizes – Geary posted a pic in our forum, and wigglepie13 emailed us a nice thank-you. All I have to say is thanks, Bungie! Update: And one more, from Sane Intolerant. Nice!

  • There Are Other Alternatives.

Stuntmutt is no longer in Barbados, but it’ll be a few days before the sunburn has healed enough for him to get back to cutting and pasting – so it’s a good thing that there are still a few celebrity guest strips in the queue. Today’s One One Se7en, for example, was created by Pinkuh,…

  • Hunter Fireworks?

Rockslider plays with frozen hunters on Silent Cartographer – check the overview on our forum, and visit his Bad Cyborg site for full details. Whee!

  • Gruntco Base Defense

Yesterday, another movie wound its way through the MPRRS – and once again, 9 reviewers said ‘pass’, one reviewer said ‘not only will I not pass this, but I’ll score it 35% below the average’ – which pretty much guarantees a fail. (To be absolutely clear: reviewers don’t see numerical grades from other reviewers, and…

  • VGL Philly PR

The Video Games Live crew sent along a press release for the Philadelphia show – in addition to the show itself, there’s a nice contest, and a meet-and-greet session with (among other game music luminaries) Marty O’Donnell and Mike Salvatori. Give it a read.

  • BOLLing for soup-erman

Over at Bungie.net, there’s a very cool interview with BOLL, a community member who tends to stand out if you pay any attention to community members. Go read about what makes him tick – I apologize that somehow, I can’t find an original picture of his elite carving; I remember telling him to mail it…

  • Anatomy of a Work in Progress

Pinkuh was one of the artists that graciously agreed to create cool artwork for HBO visitors for our E3 Poster Contest – and since she send along progress reports, I thought it might be fun to show people how she works. Visit this page for a series of images (with commentary), showing her progress along…

  • The Maw Tournament

Bungie.net has word of a 64-player Halo PC Slayer tournament coming up next month – swing by and read the details!

  • Major Nelson separates Xbox 360 titles

Major Nelson has changed the format of his Top Ten Xbox Live Games list – there are now two separate lists (one for Xbox360 titles, one for Xbox titles). Halo 2 is at the top of the Xbox list – but there’s no word on overall numbers. (I’m guessing that’s on purpose – at some…

  • Remembrance

Stolen directly from her Red vs Blue journal – Elnea created a really nice image in honor of yesterday’s holiday here in the US, and we’ve added it (and the poem she included with it) to her gallery page here.

  • DropShock Ep 17

DropShock wrote to point out that DropShock Episode 17 has been released. It’s described in the email as ‘a stripped format version’ – but it’s still almost an hour long. Go listen.
