  • No Halo before 2001

Haloplayers reports that someone from Barrysworld talked to Take2 yesterday, and was told that Halo won’t be out before 2001. Not a huge surprise, but Take2 should probably be in the loop here. As this news post was being put up, word came from Massa, at Halo Network… apparently, GameStar is also suggesting a date…

  • Halo breaks into Top 100

Wow! Thanks to Allenthar, who points out that the recent advance of the Halo SETI Marines not only propelled them into the top 50 Club Teams… but into the top 100 Teams of any kind! Congrats, folks.

  • E3 Banner scan from Incite

Noctavis, over at R.net, has scanned in a beautiful shot of the E3 Banner, which showed up in the July 2000 issue of Incite Magazine. Look at the detail of that shot! Gotta go out and buy me one of those tomorrow.

  • Halo SETI 24 hour team stats posted

The Halo SETI Marines dig in in their push to be top dog. A solid effort today… 463 units crunched, almost all accounted for. Welcome to SeanA, and congratulations to JackMech, who vaulted over 26 teammates to take the Frogblast award. Congratulations, too, to Banzif, who crushed the competition for La Crunch Honneur. How are YOU doing?…

  • Halo noticed in WRE E3 Awards

Well-Rounded Entertainment has posted their E3 Awards, and Halo garnered a Runner-up award in the Action category. (The category was won by Alice.) In addition, they came in second (with 44% of the vote, compared to Deus Ex’s 46%) in the Reader’s Choice awards. Thanks to R.net, who noticed the awards.

  • Story page says Kortana no bomb

Seen on the Story page… seems the report a few days ago of a bomb with a nickname of “Kortana” might not be true after all. The makers of the bomb in question have said that no nickname has been given to it either by them or by the USAF customer. Hmm… oh, well, it…

  • Doug says change the weather!

Serious modification, and weather… Vector, at Battleground: Halo, asked Doug Zartman anotherfew questions, and got a couple of useful answers about topics of high fan interest. Want to know the latest about game alteration, or environmental effects? Head on over and read Doug’s answers!

  • Halo SETI 24 hour team stats posted

Blam!… another team bites the dust as the Halo SETI Marines climb to position 49. Woohoo! 48 coming soon… depending on when SETI decides to give back the units lost every day. (Over 200 units crunched today unaccounted for.) Check the 24 hour stats for details!

  • May and June PCXL text up

For those not up to downloading the large image files of yesterday’s PCXL scans, we’ve transcribed the text from both articles. “Tired of Playing WIth Yourself?” (from the May issue) focuses mainly on multiplayer, while “Mission: ‘The Angels Sing'” concentrates on solo play. There were two new screenshots, which can be found in our Screenshots…

  • PCXL scans available

Took us a while, but we’re finally able to bring you the Halo articles in the May and June issues of PC Accelerator. Mike Salmon, Editor in Chief (okay, ex-EIC… PCXL has officially closed down), has given us permission to put these up for your viewing pleasure. Without further ado:May 2000: Page 1 (244K), Page…

  • No joy in usenetville

More info on the alt.games.halo newsgroup mentioned by Simon Brownlee… seems someone screwed up royally. There was no proposal posted to alt.config, which means that many newsservers will ignore the group as “unofficial”. There’s no valid “Approved” line in the newgroup control post (the post that actually starts the group), which means that MOST servers…

  • alt.games.halo newsgroup started

A bit earlier than some expected… but an alt.games.halo newsgroup has been started.(It may or may not have propagated to your local server by now… be patient, if it hasn’t.) Yet another place to discuss the nooks and crannies of the Halo universe! Thanks to Simon Brownlee for the heads-up.

  • =NAV=Shadow looking for modellers

=NAV=Shadow writes to let us know that he hopes to put together a short 3D movie of Halo this summer… but he won’t be able to manage it alone. He’s looking for 3DS MAX modellers who might be willing to help out… contact him if you think that’s you!

  • Fan Fiction page updated

CUTS has submitted an interesting piece of fan fiction… who is the marine, really? Go read his thoughts on the Fan Fiction page!

  • Wallpaper page (re)updated

Wow, that was quick. 🙂 Vector has resubmitted his wallpaper to our Wallpaper page. Glad to have them back! Thanks to the whole BGH team for straightening all this out.

  • Missing Wallpaper might come back

Seems we were misinformed. The policy at Battleground: Halo is NOT that its staffers can’t post artwork at other sites… it’s that they can’t post artwork with BGH identifiers at other sites. It’s unclear at this point whether vector will be resubmitting his wallpapers without the BGH URL on them… but we hope so. We…

  • Happy Anniversary to R.net

Happy anniversary to Rampancy.net! The Core went live one year ago yesterday… as did our blam.bungie.org forums. Talk about blasts from the past! Has it been a whole year? Wow.

  • Poll Smash at QGL

Battleground: Halo mentions a poll at the Queensland Gamers League (northeastern Australia)… what game are you most looking forward to? Halo is currently neck and neck with Tribes 2… go see if you can swing that!

  • Gamespot says Halo is Potent

Seen at R.net: Gamespot has added an Editors’ Choice Best of E3 2000 section… and Halo is on the list for Most Potent Action Game.

  • Battleground:Halo wallpaper removed

We had a number of nice wallpapers from vector, of Battleground: Halo, on our Wallpaper page. Apparently, the policy of Battleground: Halo is that artwork created by one of their staffers cannot be displayed on another Halo site… so we’ve been asked to pull them. (I would have thought that BG:H would have been happy…
