Follow HaloCommunity as we celebrate the release of Halo 4 with our next site tournament! Join us for an awesome and fun tournament in the Flood game type on November 24th at 1:00 PM EST! That’s right, we’re taking the Flood experience to Custom games for an epic, double-elimination free-for-all! Work together with other Spartans to stay alive, or rack up points as a lone wolf! But be careful not to turn your back for too long, for those you will be cooperating with one minute may be coming to infect you the next!
For those of you who may not be familiar with the new Halo 4 game type, Halo 4’s Flood mode is a round-based, ten-player game. It is a truly asymmetrical experience with the added twist of dynamic teams, making every game a different experience… especially during the incredibly action-packed and intense final seconds.
At the beginning of each round, two players spawn in Flood form, and eight players spawn as Survivors. Survivors are standard Spartans equipped with shotguns and magnums, while Flood move very quickly and can only use a melee attack. When a Survivor gets killed by the Flood, the Survivor will convert and re-spawn as a Flood. The round ends if a Survivor makes it to 3:00 or if all players are converted to Flood, and a new round with new teams will commence.
We will be allowing the first 160 players that sign to compete in the tournament, so mark your calendars for November 24th, and keep an eye on HaloCommunity.com for signups to open soon! Here is an example bracket for the tournament: http://bit.ly/FloodFFA. Maps and game variant downloads will be available when signups open!
It wouldn’t be a HaloCommunity tournament if there weren’t some awesome prizes, would it? Our champion will take home a Rocketfish Wireless Headset, Second place will win a Season Pass for Halo 4 War Games, Third Place will score a set of Halo 4 FPS Freek Infinity Controller Add-Ons, and the runners up will receive in-game armor codes. Various avatar codes will also be given out to participants for inter-tournament accomplishments.

Every Monday, we feature a community member who does one or more of the following things: routinely goes above and beyond for their fellow forum members, is a positive and active member of the community, and/or sends me mass amounts of cat pictures. This week our Community Member of the Week is tsassi. Read a little more about him below, then hit his profile to learn more about one of our newest Superintendents!

Gamertag: tsassi.
Origin of Gamertag: Originally, tsassi as a username was my dad’s. When I first got my 360, he made this account. Through time and a random series of events, it became my account and I have grown to like the name and haven’t wanted to change it. But happen you ever see a tsassi anywhere outside Xbox LIVE, Waypoint, or Bungie.net, it may not be me but my dad.
Current clan/community: Here I am most of the time.
Halo game(s) you are currently playing: Halo 4, Halo: CE, Halo 2, and occasionally Halo 3 and Reach.
Favorite map, game type and playlist: My favorite map from Halo in general would be Lockout. From Reach, High Noon. Favorite game type is CTF and favorite playlist is Team Snipers.
Least favorite map, game type and playlist: Sword Base, Grifball, and Team SWAT.
Preferred control scheme: Bumper Jumper at inverted sensitivity of ten.
Halo playing style (offense, defense, sniper, driver, etc.): Completely depends on where I play. I can’t really specify a single one, but my most common ones would be sniper, driver, and defense in objective.
Favorite character: Sergeant Major Avery Junior Johnson.
Favorite Halo book: Cryptum.
Favorite Halo quote: “To give the Covenant back their bomb.” There is nothing more epic than that quote.
Anything else we should know? I enjoy debates, especially when the subject is something that I appreciate deeply such as the gameplay mechanics of Halo. If you ever see my post that you disagree with, don’t be afraid to voice your opinion. I’ll enjoy it as long as you keep your tone respectful.

From G4TV:
The Halo series revolves around a rich and complex story about vengeance, tradition, and bravery. Many plot points get lost when you’re only playing Team Deathmatch, or if you’re simply new to the series. X-Play has broken down some of the key points in Halo’s narrative, just in time for Halo 4. Check out this video and learn your gaming roots!

From Laura Akers:
As the editor on Halo Waypoint, I basically had two roles: one, to make sure all the text we used was grammatically correct and Halo-appropriate, and two, to test our content and then push the button that would send it out into the world. When you’re at the end of the pipeline like that, it means a lot of late nights. Luckily (for me, anyway), I was rarely alone. Most nights, I had the company of our first video editor, Jacob Benton. Jacob was, and remains, a jack-of-many-trades. In addition to editing together our videos, he — along with Jeremy Patenaude (check out Jeremy’s interview here) — was our Halo fact-checker. He spent months working with our people on the backend to get the forums just right. He helped host Halo events. And eventually, he became a mission designer on the long-awaited Halo 4. From super-fan to one of the creative minds behind Halo 4, Jacob remains one of the most grounded, humble, and kindest people I know. He also possesses the ability to have played Halo, for over a decade now, without swearing. No joke.

From CMNeir:
As we’ve done with Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo: Reach, we now embrace a new era of tricks and glitches, in Halo 4.
Ever wonder how to bounce a tank around like a pinball? Well in this episode of Halo 4 Tricks, we take the old Tank Spinning trick from Halo 2 and use a new method in Forge to recreate the magic that started it all, Tank Pinball!

From Cyren:
The time has come again to submit to the Halo Council Top 5 Plays! Unfortunately there’s no way to link files on Halo Waypoint yet so it’s back to the good old days of me custom searching for each individual file in-game. PM your file information in this format (maximum of three clips):
• Gamertag – File Name
• Gamertag – File Name
• Gamertag – File Name
An example would be:
• VivaciousJazzy – OMGWTFBBQ
• VivaciousJazzy – Super Funny Warthog Trick
• VivaciousJazzy – Zomg Killionaire
If your clip is good enough, it will be uploaded to the Top 5 YouTube channel, and from there possibly be selected to be in the next top 5.

From HaloFanForLife:
I made a graphic novel of the fourth episode of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. Using the screenshots I took as well as typing out some the dialog, I added Photoshop effects and laid out the project in InDesign. Feel free to download this as it’s FREE.
