    Our Second season of Halo 2 is here guys. Now it’s time to practice up and get sharp for the matches that we will have in 2 weeks kicking off the start of the LARGEST Podtacular tournaments with 24 teams and over 95 players!!!

    So click on the top left side of this page “Tournaments – Fall 2006” and check out the amazing season whe we have in front of us! I would like to give a very special shout out to CapnKrunk for helping me out with the new system. This season would not run as smooth if it wasn’t for our favorite Capn!!

    Good Luck to all teams that are playing and if you’re not playing make sure to keep up with the news and root for your favorite team!!!

    Unbeknownst to us, Captain Spark’s been busy on his website; he’s reorganized all of his 2005 dialogue submissions to include the new category names (individual marines, etc), and he’s added two new collections (on September 20 and September 29). We’ve added all 37 new snippets to our Dialogue Databank – there are some classics in there!(Louis Wu 18:52:29 UTC)

    In addition to the official HaloWars.com site and its forum, Halo Wars fansites are starting to sprout up. We saw the first of them linked from HBO: Halo Wars Central, which is currently running an art contest.

    We’ve added a Halo Wars section to our database of links to other sites.

    The HaloWars.com forums are both new and very busy. It has been difficult at time to get at the interesting discussions because so much time has been taken up by the same issues over and over again. Since the announcement of Halo Wars, some eleven thousand posts have been made. About half of them are about why marines have battle rifles.

    Things are improving. Their FAQ, while short, one can assume will be expanded at some point. Two sticky threads, on most-often discussed issues and instructions to new posters have gone up to try and keep duplicates to a minimum.

    Still, this has barely stemmed the tide of those who wonder about the battle rifle’s presence.

    I’ll try to put this question to rest once and for all here. Wish me luck.

    Elnea mashed up the theme from Doctor Who with the Halo theme… what came out was pretty cool. (She also created some artwork for this – you can find it in her gallery here.) On the off-chance her .Mac site runs out of bandwidth, the mashup is mirrored here. Go listen!     1Up.com is crowing about a huge content blowout Electronic Games Monthly will be bringing you with the December issue (on newsstands November 14, likely in subscribers’ mailboxes a couple of weeks before that) – Halo 3, baby! New screens, video content (well, that will be delivered on the website), new secrets. (No guarantee on that last – we all know how tight-lipped Bungie can be. Definitely screens and vids, though.)     Over at Red vs Blue, the first episode of Season Five is now available for the general public. Normally, this doesn’t get a new news post here (we mention the new episode when it goes live for sponsors, and figure those getting it for free are capable of adding 48 hours to the release time to figure out when it will be available for them) – but this one’s a bit different; there’s new content for sponsors, too. They’ve released a ‘Director’s Commentary’ version; listen to Burnie and Geoff discuss the difficulties behind the shots, the inconsistencies they removed (and the ones they left), and more.     This weeks GamerCast Network featured Dialpex from podtacular. You can download the episode HERE. Yeah guys, I had the oportunity to go and spend some time with Tom and the crew from GamerCast Network and talk about what podtacular is all about, what we do here and our crazy lifes in within the Halo Universe Podcast. It was a great time and those guys made me feel at home. Even though i was probably the only guy in the room who knew what Top Glass and Bottom Glass were… lol Anyways, It was a great time and those guys have a great show with a great variety of new things in the video game community.     The buzz has died down a bit, but there are still a few sites catching up with the X06 Halo Wars bombshell. The latest is the BBC’s site, which quoted Bungie’s Brian “SketchFactor” Jarrard as well as HBO’s own fansite editor, Claude “Louis Wu” Errera.

    As for why a Halo RTS by Ensemble, Sketch put it nicely:

    “Halo started as an RTS. Would the Bungie team love to do one themselves? Possibly.

    “We are not focused on that. We’ve got a lot of work to do on Halo 3 and a trilogy to finish.”

    As for Wu, he was cautiously optimistic. Or optimistically cautious, depending:

    “The entire team has been working on Halo games since 1998 and they are probably tired of it. But there are still stories to tell.”

    I suppose if one works on Halo games long enough, Pimps at Sea starts to look like a really good idea.
