AH: Jack and Geoff check out Natal (aka Kinect)!

Hey guys, Jack coming to you all the way from Los Angeles, California. It’s kind of late out here, and I may or may not have had a few drinks, but I figured I should share what happened to Geoff and I tonight at the Microsoft Natal event.

First of all, we got in to Los Angeles and once settled in to our hotel, we got our lay of the land.

After a quick bite to eat, we headed to the Microsoft Natal event. We thought we were there kind of early. Turns out, we were not.

Once we managed to get inside, they handed us a space poncho. Everyone wore them. I did not drink the Kool-Aid, I promise.

Geoff was super happy about wearing his Space-Poncho.

We entered the Galen center, but instead of it being the Galen center, we actually entered some kind of crazy future-rainforest. It was like Biodome 2 except with less Pauly Shore and Younger Baldwin Brother.

We weren’t supposed to take photos, so I didn’t, cause I’m a good boy. Just let it be known that I saw a girl walk upside down and a couch suspended about 100 feet up in the air. It was bonkers.

The event didn’t actually show off any true gameplay, but just a few different examples of what “Kinect” (formerly Natal) has to offer. We got glimpses of a sports title, video messages, a Star Wars themed game and a “game” called Kinect Animals that made me want to pet a tiger. Imagine Tamagotchi 3.0 with adorable-ass tigers instead of weird blocky images. I WANT TO PET A TIGER.

As we were leaving, they handed us a stuffed animal with a USB wrist-drive around it’s neck. The one above is the one I picked up.

All in all, I wasn’t super excited about Natal/Kinect before, but I at least am curious about it now.

Microsoft will be showing the event on MTV and Nickelodeon this upcoming week, and eventually it’ll end up on Xbox Live, so you can watch it yourself! Aren’t you super excited??

We’ll have more as we liveblog the Microsoft event tomorrow, but I figured I should write something about the Kinect event tonight before I pass out. Stay tuned for more info as we cover the crap out of E3 2010!

Love you, sweet dreams.
